According to the records in the Bishop's House, the parish was erected in 1698. Very little is known about the origin of Christianity in this area. Kanatharkunnam was a flourishing trading centre those days. The baptism register from as early as 1886 is available in the church. People from this parish have gone over to other parishes like Kallada, Kanjiracode etc. A new church is under construction here. The parish has given many priests for the diocese of Quilon and for many other dioceses.
